Day 1
Each of the four Westside destinations – West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina del Rey and Santa Monica – offers day-long entertainment and adventure.
West Hollywood
• Breakfast options WeHo-style include local finds such as Dukes West Hollywood, Hugo’s or Joey’s Cafe, favorite hang-outs for locals and people in the entertainment industry. Or visit The Standard hotel’s restaurant, 24/7, with its stylish, modern take on coffee shop fare.
• Walk off breakfast by strolling down The Sunset Strip or for an architectural treat, check out the MAK Center at Schindler House on Kings Road, one of the first interpretations of early Californian modern architecture by famed architect Rudolph Schinder.
• After touring, pause to savor a cappuccino at star-studded Sunset Plaza, home to chic, exclusive boutiques and prime people-watching bistros.
• Next, stroll and shop along The Avenues (Robertson Blvd., Beverly Blvd., and Melrose Avenue). Here, visitors and locals alike browse world-class shops for the finest in art, fashion, and high-end home furnishings. The Avenues is home to unique shops and world famous names such as Alberta Ferretti, Christian Louboutin and Stella McCartney, along with local boutiques and designers like Kitson, Alpha Man and J. Gerard Design Studio & Peace Gallery. Not to be missed is the 1.2 million square-foot Pacific Design Center; visit the outdoor plaza where you will find the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) West.
• Then head to trend-setting Melrose Avenue, where visitors will find cutting-edge fashions. Take an afternoon break and be part of the scene at La Conversation or Urth Caffe, two neighborhood-friendly cafes with a celebrity clientele. Or, indulge in an early afternoon drink at the Abbey, one of LA’s hot spots for both gay and straight visitors.
• Just off Melrose Avenue, find LA’s legendary dinner establishments like Lucques, Cecconi’s, Gordon Ramsay at The London West Hollywood or Robert DeNiro’s Ago.
• It wouldn’t be West Hollywood without a party! And you’ll find it on The Sunset Strip. Venues range from The Roxy, Whisky a Go-Go, Viper Room, Key Club, House of Blues and beyond. All hotels on the Sunset Strip feature a bar or cocktail lounge with trendy scenes, especially SkyBar at Mondrian, The Olive at Grafton and the Purple Lounge at The Standard.
